My intention was to record buildings and details before they
would be demolished, a destiny that wasn't imaginary some forty years ago.
Sometimes I  had to revisit an object because of the quality of the pictures I made
that long time ago, and because of having a better (digital) equipment now.
It  always was  a suprise what I would find there. The building either was demolished or altered (same result) ór it had been beautifully restored.
Another story were the findings  behind the former Iron Curtain. The wealth
to keep the houses in repair or to rebuild them wasn't available. Moreover, these houses reminded the period of luxurious decadence that preceded the communist regime, wich resulted in thorough neglected, but absolute authentic buildings.
Nowadays the value of these buildings is acknowledged en they are being restored in a way, more beautifull than they ever were.
This site is a incomplete attempt to show some remains of Art Nouveau architecture after  a century of destruction and two world wars, but most of all is it a tribute to the creators of this beauty.
